Each of the SUU-59/A pylons is equipped with one BRU-47/A bomb release unit (stations STA-2 and STA-8) and two LAU-128/A missile launcher rails (stations STA-2A/2B and STA-8A/8B) for either the AIM-9 or AIM-120 missile. The pylon is basically a bigger container for the BRU-47/A bomb release unit and its the BRU which actually holds the weapon fitted here.
The Strike Eagle´s SUU-59/A wing station pylon and the LAU-128/A rail launcher are connected to each other via the ADU-552 Adapter Unit, which functions as mechanical and electrical adapter between . The LAU-128/A launcher is attached to the ADU-552 Adapter Unit by two bolts, which are positioned in the centerline of the launcher rail. The ADU-552 is again attached to the SUU-59/A wing station pylon by four bolts on the top and bottom of the unit. The F-15E uses two SUU-59/A pylons on its inboard wing stations.
