This article lists all active F-15E units and their hierarchy by name, number and airbase. This gives an overall view of the units operating the Strike Eagle, however we offer a continuously growing set of detailed descriptions for the units themselves - these are available by clicking on the name of the given unit. Units are divided into two chapters: one for operational and training units, the other for test units. Please note that former F-15E units are not listed here, you can find references to them in our article on F-15E tail codes. Operational and Training Units![]()

F-15E Units
Apr 29 2011 08:43:02 Hmm, lets go a bit deeper here. What about former F-15E units? Before moving to SJAFB Strike Eagle training was at Luke AFB, AZ. I only know of one squadron there and it was the 555th (Triple Nickel/Eagles) When it moved to SJAFB it became the 333d (Lancers) which used to be an A-10 training squadron based at Davis Monthan AFB, AZ. The 555th is not an F-16 squadron stationed at Aviono AB, Italy. Hmm an F-16 squadron called the Eagles, interesting.

Re:F-15E Units
Apr 29 2011 11:38:50 Launcher, thanks for the info! The article deals with current, active F-15E squadrons (maybe it's not emphasized enough), former F-15E squadrons are not listed here.
We do have an article about F-15E Tail Codes however, you can find references to the squadrons you mentioned. Anyway, due to your feedback, I modified the article to emphasize that it deals with active squadrons. Thanks! |

Re:F-15E Units
Apr 29 2011 12:27:25 No problem, just adding some of my meagre knowledge to the soup. I just wanted to make a stink about the 555th eagles being a F-16 sq now. I've been told that ops guys down there don't like the money nicknames: i.e. 555th = triple nickel and 510th = five & dime. Kinda like when a squadron with a color of yellow being called "gold". Sorry if I'm getting off target.
