Dedicated crew chiefs and their assistants are Airmen who stand above their peers; they have earned coveted recognition from leadership for their hard work and attention to detail. A flagship competition took place at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, N.C., pitting the best of the best, those flagship DCCs and their assistants, against one another to determine which team was overall the sharpest and what aircraft had the best appearance during a visit by Maj. Gen. Lawrence Wells, 9th Air Force commander, Jan. 13.

GE F110 Continues Powering 4th-Gen Fighters Print E-mail

The General Electric F110 engine program got a boost from the sale of 84 F-15 fighter to Saudi Arabia, and is expected to remain in production until 2018-2019. F-15 deliveries to Singapore will be completed in 2012, leaving no other orders to fill. Boeing has offered the USAF an upgraded version of the F-15E called the F-15E+ but the air force is not interested in aircraft lacking low-observable technology.

Saudi Arabia to purchase 84 F-15SA, upgrade current F-15 fleet Print E-mail

Air Force officials announced the next chapter in a partnership with the Royal Saudi Air Force as the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia recently signed a $29.4 billion Foreign Military Sales Letter of Offer and Acceptance solidifying their plans to purchase 84 F-15SA fighter aircraft and upgrade their current fleet of 70 F-15S aircraft to the SA configuration.

U.S., Saudi Arabia finalize F-15 fighter deal Print E-mail

The U.S. State Department announced Thursday that it finalized a $29.4 billion sale of Boeing-made F-15 fighter jets to Saudi Arabia.
“The United States and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have signed a government-to-government agreement under the Foreign Military Sales program to provide advanced F-15SA combat aircraft to the Royal Saudi Air Force,” White House spokesman Joshua Earnest said in a statement.

389th boost confidence in Combat Archer exercise Print E-mail

More than 180 members from the 389th Fighter Squadron and Aircraft Maintenance Unit along with 12 F-15E Strike Eagles participated in Combat Archer at Tyndall Air Force Base, Fla., Nov. 28 to Dec. 9. Combat Archer evaluates the total air-to-air weapon system capabilities of Air Force combat aircraft and is conducted by the base's 53rd Weapons Evaluation Group. Airmen are evaluated on everything from flight operations to maintenance.

USAFE releases AIB report on F-15E crash in Libya Print E-mail

United States Air Forces in Europe officials released the results of their investigation into the March 21 crash in Libya of an F-15E Strike Eagle as it performed combat operations enforcing the United Nations mandated no-fly zone established for Operation Odyssey Dawn.
