Our 'old' design was a very well chosen one and attracted lots of users - coupled with an unparalleled information content this made F-15E.info far the best website on the Internet devoted to the mighty Strike Eagle. However we found it increasingly difficult to manage such huge amount of content, not mentioning to enhance it regularly. It was high time to make a change: to transfer the whole site to a modern content management system platform. We picked Joomla!, a leading edge CMS, which offers literally hundreds of new features and possibilities, plus a door left wide open for future enhancements. From the many possibilities, F-15E.info ulitizes the following (the list is just an 'appetizer' and is by far not complete): New FeaturesBy using our new engine, a range of new features became available to organize, manage and present our website content to our visitors. And YOU as a visitor benefit them the most. Here's a list (not complete by any means) of them: User Management: Users can register (it's free!) via an anti-spam registration process. Registered users can log in and edit their profile. Registered users are offered more features and more content (i.e. high-res images, extra videos, newsletters, webshop, etc.). Users can create and maintain connections, send private messages and emails. Users can see who is online at the moment. Integrated Forum: Users logged in the site will automatically be logged in the forum. Forum topics will be connected to the website content. User Feedback: Articles can be rated even by non-registered users. Comments to the articles (comments are stored in the forum engine) are accessible directly from the article page, no need to go to the forum and then find the appropriate category. User polls will be published from time to time to get your opinion. These feedback will be utilized to make our website better suit your needs and expectations. User Contribution: Registered users can be promoted to authors and they can write articles, add updates to articles (comes very handy for keeping tabs on serial numbers), upload photos and videos, translate articles to their native language, moderate forum topics. We are looking for active contributors! Front-end Article Editing: Articles can be edited (by users with appropriate privilages) online, so no need to come home and then edit and upload changes. As a result, corrections and updates can be made to the articles much quicker. Categorized Content: All content is organized into articles and articles belong to categories and sections. This makes finding info easier and more logical. Search Function: A new bult-in search function is available which is fully integared, that is you will be able to search among not just article contents, but among categories, sections, news feeds, web links and contacts as well. Article Index: Chapters within articles are displayed on the top right corner of each article. This not just gives the users a quick glance of the article's contents but it's possible to jump directly to the chosen chapter by clicking on it. This makes reading long articles a lot easier. Enhanced Navigation: We have 'breadcrumbs' on top of the screen, which always shows the 'path' the visitor has taken in the menus. We have an automatically generated sitemap, which is always in synch with the whole content of the site. Article Exports: Articles can be exported to PDF format, be printed in an easily printable format and be sent via email to anyone you choose. News Feeds: We offer a gradually increasing amount of RSS news feeds for you to be able to get notified of site changes immediately. Plus we can display news feeds from other news and aviation sites so you don't have to browse other sites, you can read F-15E related news right here at one central place. Image and Video Galleries: As time progresses we will transfer our extensive video and image collection to new galleries, which will be searchable and categorized. Registered users can upload images and videos. High-res versions of images will be stored locally, so we'll not depend on other sites. Automatic Glossary: Glossary abbreviations are automatically displayed if you move the mouse cursor over them. Multi-Language Support: An unlimited number of languages are supported (currently we use English and Hungarian). You can switch anytime between languages (see small flags in the upper right corner of the screen) and the whole screen content will change. In case somebody volunteers for translation, any number of other languages are available. Take a Look AroundWe encourage you to take a look around. Transferring the site content however requires an enormous amount of work which will take many months. That's why you'll find some articles appearing in their 'old' form - these articles are not converted yet, just shown unchanged, inserted into the new design . As time progresses, more and more articles will be converted, thus completing the information content of F-15E.info. We wish you a good read and we hope you'll return soon!
