Re:91-0304
May 11 2011 05:39:16 Do you have crash impact photos of these aircraft?
I would like to see how many impacted in a flat mode vs cratering? I suspect the most common mode of impact creates a crater. Something looks suspicious/unusual about this flat impact. |

Re:91-0304
May 14 2011 04:51:18 In the early news of the incident, it was reported that another NATO aircraft was in the same area. Do you remember reading this information?
Information regarding this loss has sort of dropped off the screen lately. |

Re:91-0304
May 14 2011 07:02:46 I don't remember reading this, but another F-15E (the wingman or flight lead of the downed jet) should have been near.
Don't bother of the news, as I recall this is standard USAF procedure - they will publish the accident report (or at least part of it) sooner or later. |

Re:91-0304
May 14 2011 13:12:44 Having been a pilot in the USAF, I can tell you that it can be quite a wait before the accident report comes out (if it ever does in this case). I am afraid this one might have already been written off as a combat loss and will not be investigated.

Re:91-0304
Jun 03 2011 18:20:33 Here is the latest report on the investigation related to the crash to 91-0304 from the Air Force Magazine.com
Safety Investigation into F-15E Crash Completed: An Air Force safety investigation board has concluded its look into the F-15E that crashed in Libya on March 21, a US Air Forces in Europe spokesman told the Daily Report. However, it's not yet clear if USAFE officials will release information from that board or convene a follow-on accident investigation board, he said. The Strike Eagle, assigned to RAF Lakenheath, England, was operating out of Aviano AB, Italy, in support of Operation Odyssey Dawn when it went down over northeast Libya during a strike sortie. Two Marine CH-53 helicopters, two AV-8B attack aircraft, and a pair of MV-22 Ospreys operating from the USS Kearsarge, which was positioned in the Mediterranean Sea, recovered the pilot. Libyan civilians helped the aircraft's combat systems operator. Neither crew member was seriously injured. US Africa Command previously announced that the aircraft suffered an equipment |
